Reefton has some of the best mountain biking tracks in New Zealand get a group together and experience it for yourself, we can even organise a heli ride for maximum thrill seekers.

The Reefton Distillery

Learn about Reefton Distilling Co. and how they craft their products, before sampling some of the range at the tasting bar. A fascinating glimpse into the life of a woman who embodied the term ‘gutsy West Coaster’.

With river trips that have enough action to get your whitewater rafting fix on the West Coast near Reefton and Greymouth as well as on the East Coast near Hanmer Springs, we have something that will suit all ages. Our a small locally owned and operated rafting company is proud to be able to show off our stunning backyard and provide unforgettable day and multi-day whitewater rafting river and camping experiences.

Gold Panning

If you're after something a little quieter try your hand at gold panning, pans can be hired at the Reefton i-SITE Visitor Centre. Pick up a gold panning brochure, some local tips, and then head 10km south to the camping area, Slab Hut Creek and try your luck.

You could learn a thing or two about the local mining history from The Bearded Miners on Broadway. 

Walking & mountain biking tracks

For the avid mountain bike rider there are multiple tracks to explore and conquer in and around Reefton, from grade 2 (Beginner) - grade 5 (expert) track types include, smooth, rocky and muddy or some being technical with sections of walking.

Blacks Point Museum

The museum is situated about 2km from Reefton in the heart of Blacks Point. The museum is open from Sunday 15th October 2023. Opening Hours: Wednesday - Sunday 10am - 4pm.

Can be open by arrangement.


Shopping & Galleries

Reefton is a town steeped in History - the robust yet quaint second hand shops and art galleries are worth saving a couple of hours to take in- located on the main street of Broadway. 

The Reefton Skate & Roller Park 

Reefton's own world class roller park. The Rollerpark is open to skateboards, BMXs and rollerblades (and even once a uni-cycle!). This park is a good size at 55m x 45m with lots of great features including a clover leaf bowl. It is widely regarded as one of New Zealand's best parks.

There is normally plenty of room for visitors and some days you may have the whole place to yourself. The park is located on The Strand behind Broadway.

River - fly fishing

Easy access to an abundance of world class trout fishing rivers and nearby lake Brunner is a great way to spend a day with your rod in your hand. 

Local Hot Springs 

Just a short (40 min) drive through the stunning Rahu pass to have a soak in the mountains.
